Houses for Sale in Key Largo: Lower Keys
The Lower Keys are comprised of several islands:
No Name Key, Conch Key, Big Pine Key, Little Torch Key, Middle Torch Key, Big Torch Key, Ramrod Key, Summerland Key, Cudjoe Key, Sugarloaf Key, Saddlebunch Keys, Shark Key, Geiger Key, Big Coppitt Key, Rockland Key, Stock Island, and Key West.
The Lower Keys begin where the Florida Keys island chain gradually turns westward toward the sunset, south of the famous Seven Mile Bridge. You enter a quiet region of small resorts, local restaurants, single-family homes, a bit of wildernesses and rich history of the Florida Keys. Big Pine Key, at mile marker 33, is the largest of the Lower Keys and lies within the Key Deer and White Heron National Wildlife Refuges. Big Pine Key is just 30 miles north of Key West. There are several other islands of the Lower Keys famous for their homey resorts, family-oriented neighborhoods and easy access to the water including Summerland Key, Big Torch and Little Torch Keys, Cudjoe Key, Sugarloaf Key and Big Coppitt Key. Ramrod Key is a very quiet residential key located at mile marker 27. All are an easy drive to Key West. The uninhabited Saddlebunch Keys are a network of sandy lagoons and mangrove islands that make the jaunt a memorable one, especially at sunset.
