When one speaks of Islamorada in the Florida Keys, they are referring to a group of six islands or keys which include Plantation Key, Windley Key, Upper Matecumbe, Lower Matecumbe and the two offshore (non resident) islands Lignumvitae Key and Indian Key. Everglades National Park and the Florida Bay are to the west and and the Atlantic Ocean is to the east. One of the great features of Islamorada is the eight bridges which provide easy access to either the Florida Bay or the Atlantic Ocean. When in Islamorada, neither is far away explaining the nick name given to Islamorada as the “Sportfishing Capital of the World”.
There is a wide range of homes in Islamorada including beautiful condos on Plantation Key and townhomes as Angler’s Way ocean side on Windley Key, special bayfront estates, elite canal front neighborhoods as Venetian Shores (in Upper Matecumbe), Port Antigua and Safety Harbor (both in Lower Matecumbe) spectacular ocean front homes and a varied selection of quaint, non-waterfront properties offering the charm of the Florida Keys. Because Islamorada is a group of narrow islands and land use and development are limited, this makes each property special and extra valuable in the Florida Keys. I love living in Islamorada and as they say…”if you are lucky to live by the water, you are lucky enough ” Live in Islamorada…you are very lucky!
